Fight Ethan Fight!

Meet our little angel Ethan. He was born prematurely at 34 weeks at 2.6kg, which is actually considered big for a preemie baby. We believed that this would work to his advantage to help him conquer the complications brought about by his early delivery, but we were wrong.

Since his birth, Ethan has already battled pneumonia, sepsis, abdominal bleeding, and has had 7 rounds of blood transfusions. Aside from being emotionally challenging, Ethan's ordeal has also imposed a very heavy financial burden on us.

In order to keep our son alive, we have exhausted all of our resources. In fact, our running bill at the hospital is already at a staggering P262,000 excluding doctors' fees. He has 4 doctors (neonatologist, pedia and gastro and cardio), which will cost at least 100k combined in the next 1-2 weeks that Ethan will be staying in the NICU. To add to this, the NICU accommodation costs 40-50k per week. Our estimate is that our total payables will likely reach 360K or more.

The funds that we have prepared for Ethan's birth has already been consumed, and has proven to be greatly insufficient given all of the complications of his premature delivery.

Last August 30, his gastro informed us that he needs to be transferred to UST Hospital, one of the few hospitals that can conduct a liver biopsy (a procedure that's necessary because he's getting more yellowish each day). For this biopsy, we need an additional of at least 30k on top of the payables from the first hospital. The liver biopsy will enable his gastro to find out what exactly is happening to his liver. They're looking at 2 possible cases: neonatal hepatitis or biliary artresia.

We are hoping that the results will not point to any other serious condition so that we would only need to continue his current medications, follow up check ups and lab tests and no further surgery will be necessary.

We are now knocking on your kind hearts to help us raise funds for his procedures and medication because the financial burden has been piling up exponentially. Our Ethan has been with us for a little over a month, but already our love for him transcends boundaries. We are blessed to have family and friends who support us emotionally, physically and spiritually. For this, we are eternally grateful. As our son continues to fight for his life at the hospital, we are now sharing his story with all of you to ask for your love and prayers at this difficult time. Our faith is strong, and we know that the Lord has great plans for our son Ethan.
