In April 2010, after being open less than a year, a bar owner down the street paid to have my establishment, the Bubble Lounge, burned down. After some failed attempts, they succeeded and effectively closed me down for 5 months. When we reopened in September 2010, thanks to the support of family, friends, and devoted customers, we were able to start a new chapter of success. Even after reopening there was a feeling of anger and even a fear of this occurance repeating itself. We wanted to turn a negative into a positive so we decided to have a fundraiser and we named it Fight the Flames. I contacted the American Red Cross and with their help we have been able to have 2 successful benefits. The money raised goes to familes, through the Red Cross, that have been displaced or lost their homes due to fire. We raise money by having a door cover, a raffle of donated prizes, sell T-shirts, and a portion of the bars sales. We have local music artists that donate their time and talents for this benefit also, meaning they play for free. In the first 2 years we have raised $6,144.57. We give 100% of the door cover, 100% of the raffle money. 100% of the T-shirts sold, and 25% of our days sales.
Now on December the 20th we are having our 3rd annual Fight the Flames benefit. As I am always looking to out do the prior year, and raise as much miney as possible, I decided to try on online donation site. As I use social media, I have many friends and family who live out of town that can not come to the benefit that want to help, which is why I am trying this.
Please help us raise as much as possible so families who have lost their homes to fire can have as best a Holiday Season as possible. Thank you for everything.
