Emman, my 24-year old younger brother who is a loving sibling, an obedient child to our parents, a generous uncle to our nephews and nieces, a good buddy to his friends as well as to his cousins and a hardworking person despite his fears and hesitation in working away from his family. Because he has high dreams for our family and for his chosen profession, he took up the challenge so he would be one step closer to his goals in life. But an unexpected event led him to see his dreams crashing down.

Last February 19, 2017, he had a motorcycle accident. The said accident resulted to 5 fractured ribs and his right clavicle was affected as well. His blood pressure dropped to 70/30mmHg and he had difficulty in breathing until now. Because of his state, we were informed that he should be confined in ICU. The following day, we learned that his kidneys are not functioning very well as his creatinine (Creatinine is a chemical waste product in the blood that passes through the kidneys to be filtered and eliminated in urine. Normal range for males is 0.6 to 1.2mg/dL) was very high it went up to 16mg/dL. Therefore, dialysis everyday is required. Unfortunately, creatinine never went down below 10. His liver is affected as well but not that significant as it will heal itself in time as per doctors' advice. We were already struggling with the finances so we asked permission from the doctors if we could have my brother transferred to a normal room. My brother showed progress so they allowed us. Unfortunately while we were in the room, my brother had episodes of seizure, he also vomited for a couple of times, his blood pressure was as high as 160/100mmHg. Supposedly, he should've been transferred to ICU last March 2, 2017. We were on the waiting list as there was no vacant yet so we had to wait for two days. On March 4, he was back in the Intensive Care Unit.

There are new complications found by the doctors. There's presence of fluid in his lungs and that makes him harder to breathe and more unstable. His dialysis is still ongoing everyday until his kidneys can work on their own and function normally. There are laboratory tests done everyday aside from his medications that cost 15,000 minimum per day (approximately $306). There are laboratory procedures that needs to be done like ultrasound, CT scan of the chest and other procedures that need to be done right away which are very costly. He is still in pain because of his fractures, his abdomen is bloated and it's painful as well, his oxygen is at 5liters per minute and his blood pressure is still high. There were days when blood transfusion was done. The doctors said there is a very big possibility that he will suffer kidney failure and will result to lifetime dialysis if surgery will be done without treating the internal organs first. Surgery will be done after the internal organs become stable most especially the kidneys.

Right now, my brother's condition as per doctors assessment, they cannot tell us yet that he is out of danger or as to when he will be out of danger. Everyday is a new day for our family to be stronger and for my brother to face and fight a new battle. Aside from our emotional and physical distress, we are also financially challenged. These past few days, the fluids drained from his abdomen were very low. The tube will be inserted to the other side of his abdomen as they suspect that the fluids might have gone to other compartments of the abdomen or lungs. The doctor told us that there is also a very big possibility for my brother to have hematoma (a solid swelling of clotted blood within the tissues.) due to trauma. It needs to be checked which means he has to go another procedure to locate where the hematoma is or where did the fluids go so that it will be treated properly. We still have to look for funds for the procedure as it costs Php 36,000.00 (around $700) for the CT scan of the chest and abdomen. My family and I already exhausted our resources and sought financial assistance from our relatives, friends and other institution where we can ask for help. However, it's still not enough. I am knocking on your generous hearts to help us financially for my brother's treatment and recovery since he will undergo therapy after hospitalization. Any amount will be of great help for us. As of March 5, 2017, the running bill was more than 260,000 pesos already (more than $5,300) excluding the medicines, Nutriflex (NuTRIflex Lipid plus contains substances called amino acids, electrolytes and fatty acids that are essential for the body to grow or to recover. It also contains calories in the form of carbohydrates and fats. You are given NuTRIflex Lipid plus when you are unable to eat food normally.), dialysis and some laboratory tests fees and doctors' professional fees. Please help us and my brother conquer this battle and be one of the reasons for him to achieve his life goals. I am humbly asking you to please extend your helping hands to my brother as he needs costly expenses everyday for his medicines, dialysis, laboratory tests and stat ( meaning"instantly/immediately, without prior notice that it needs to be done) laboratory procedures such as ultrasound, CT Scan and etc.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this and extending your help. My family will be forever grateful for every amount no matter how much it is.

" A generous person will prosper;
whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." - Proverbs 11:25

One of the many receipts of his long list of medicines everyday. Good thing this hospital allows us to buy the medicines outside. As much as possible, we avoid these from being charged in the hospital as the cost of each is almost twice from the original price.

Billing statement as of March 3, 2017.

Our cousin took care of him. He requested to remove something from his mouth. He is wearing glasses because he feels the signs of seizure when his eyes are directed to the light.

Back when we just transferred to a room and recently got out from ICU. We managed to smile behind the tears because we know God is with us and He will provide. Photo taken minutes after his first seizure.
