Fif’s Swimming

Background

Melisa is 25 years old and has Down Syndrome. She started swimming in May 2014.

In 2015 she was selected to represent KZN at the SASA-II Elite Summer Games in Kimberley.

In 2016 she was selected to represent KZN at the SASA-II Age Group Summer Games in Port Elizabeth where she was awarded Top Female Swimmer with Down Syndrome. She was also selected to represent South Africa at the DSISO Trisome Games. Melisa was also nominated for KZN Sportswoman of the Year with a Disability.

In 2017 she was select to represent KZN at the SASA-II Elite Summer Games in Polokwane where she was again awarded the Top Female Swimmer with Down Syndrome. She has also been selected to represent South Africa at the INAS Global Games in Mexico in November 2017.

>18 races swam – won 17 individual medals (12 gold, 4 silver, 1 Bronze)
