What Happened:

My wife lost her job with no notice just over a week ago. I'm going to school and working PT. We were just getting by, but this really pulled the rug from under us with no warning. The office where we lived has recently changed companies and tactics on rent collection. If we raise this amount by April 25th, we will have rent for the next two months and just a little extra for other bills to sustain us while I hopefully finish out this semester while keeping my 3.5 GPA and give us both time to find new FT jobs. If not, The complex goes for possession of our apartment. We have both been searching for adequate jobs, but hers had benefits like she could bring our two year daughter in with her, so now we have more "extras" to deal with.

A bit about us and our backstory:

I was climbing cell towers for eight years when my daughter was born. My wife had a decent enough job, but we figured since she was working (as a sub contractor) for a family member of hers, and was making enough, that I could return to school to persue a nursing degree and be home instead of out of town for weeks on end to help with the baby, dog, chores, and general life rather than it being all on her while I was out. Her family member had begun to expect a little too much lately and tensions were beginning to rise. i took on a PT job at the local library to help a little bit more. The other week, she refused to buy a carton of cigarettes for her family member and he fired her. We tried talking to the office at the complex we live at and explain what was going on. We have lived here for four years and have never had a problem paying rent. Unfortunately, the new company has taken a new approach to filing on tenants, so they have been unwilling to work with us. I called my old company and asked if they would hire me back, willing to take the withdrawl this semester and sacrifice the 3.4 GPA I have kept up. Oddly enough, even though a friend that works there in a supervisory position says they need help, the owner insists they are good. So here we are on short notice of the complex's new approach and hard up. we cannot seem to find a place that is the right size and price for the three of us and our dog, who is handful and would wind up in a kennel or being bounced around on Craigslist.

Why we are asking:

We pretty much have limited options. Anything we do for work is not going to pay enough to help the eviction. This is beyond a last ditch effort. As of this week, we will probably beasking family if we can live with them. For the 5 years we ahve been married we have never needed assistance. However, our familial options are limited and we figured this was about as good of a hope as any. Like I stated previously, if we were to hit our goal, it would buy us time to stay here until June so we could find new jobs, I could finish the semester and keep my GPA where it should be. It's honestly just biding our time. My wife losing her job as a contracto in a right to work state combined with a new company with more cut throat ways of handling late payments is all foreign and everything really just came down at once. Anything over our goal would definitely be put to good use. I have one more class before I can apply to my nursing program and it's hard to be halfway to my goal only to have the rug pulled from under us so swiftly.
