I quit a permanent, specialised post production position where I spent a total of 11 years including my freelance time at MNET/Supersport. I decided to quite for a number of reasons, among them to expand my skills - something that environment didn't t allow - and I felt a need to apply myself to better, to give people consuming the media I produce something a bit more valuable. (much more valuable in fact)
I feel there are many areas in which the media we trust to keep us informed has failed us, and want to make it my career to fill that gap. I have started several of my own social media pages to this effect starting as far back as 2012; Agenda 21 Truth - South Africa on facebook being the first, 5 provincial pages with the same aim dedicated to more regional matters, Climate Change Truth South Africa facebook page. The main intent behind the latter to serve as a central, freely available record to access information countering blatant censorship of the narrative around human caused climate change by "mainstream" media. All the above (provincial A21 pages under one national banner) have youtube channels, and twitter accounts. For these platforms I do unending research, finding links/references, wrote blogs (under aquahelix on steemit), created videos - some were done a year or more ago on an iPhone, just to get some content on them.
Everything on those channels done THIS year was after I spent a lot of money on equipment, software, stock footage and audio libraries, and learning - courses to learn skills I've never done before - Video editing, motion graphic design, videography, green screen techniques, and a whole range of other things. A large part of the year was spent working on other people's projects and although it taught me a lot in a very short time, it has become time to start focussing my energy on my own projects recently, and in addition to my above mentioned projects, took on a partnership project with dear South Africa (See youtube channel and dearsouthafrica.co.za), and a former colleague, also with more than a decade experience in broadcasting, to promote dear SA campaigns, and public information campaigns. All the dear SA videos on their youtube channels were produced by us.
The above is just to illustrate a lot of financial and time investment has gone into a lot of work that has been done already. I tried to avoid asking for money like this, but I can't anymore. I face serious trouble imminently if I don't. This is my last resort, just to keep this work going, and maintain me and my wife and two (Recently! Since last week!) young daughters.
I have no doubt that the dear SA work will soon start paying for itself, we have a very good strategy and production process developing quite fast (we only basically started everything from scratch one day about 6 weeks ago) that will just take a few more months to start paying for itself. Between us we have the other resources to keep going, the studio space, the equipment, the time... But me personally, will be put out like a candle in about a week if there isn't sudden intervention, and then everything I have been doing will stop. Because I'll have to start selling the tools I do my work with. It is very urgent, and as I say, my last resort to do this. I have earned some money from this already, but it is too slow. The basic math of it, is I need 2000 people in the country that find this work valuable, to donate (Paypal accepted) $3.70 or around R55 for 3 months, making it sound fairly simple, right....? (or all at once if you want/can - $11.50 or around R165 - PayPal can set up recurring payments)
Achieving this goal will enable me to maintain all these projects for around 8 months, producing 8 videos/month for dear SA, and one for each of the other channels mentioned above. This keeps me busy enough on 16 hr workdays to not be able to do anything else.
The alternative is, that all of it will stop, possibly as soon as next week. Simply because I'll have to start selling all the tools I used to do this work, and even internet costs money.
I hope you can be one of those 2000 people.
I include a link to one of my recently produced videos for my own channel, as an example of the kind of work I'd like to do aside from dear South Africa campaigns.
So if fighting against imposed UN sustainable development is important to you, or breaking the censorship around man made climate change, or general information around globalism where our media will never go, if you value sovereignty, reciprocity, truth, duty, and free markets, please consider being one of my sponsors, to just pull this ship through the storm. I thank you.
