Feeding Phuket

FEEDING PHUKET - A PLEA FOR HELP........ My name is Honey Meek & I live in Thailand, in a small village called Kamala on the island of Phuket. The economy here is solely fuelled by tourism. As a result of Covid-19 there is now no economy here whatsoever & many people in my village & across Phuket are struggling to feed themselves!!! Over the past 3 weeks there are a handful of mainly Western run restaurants who are feeding the people by handing out free meals. These are: Pims Place, Cocorico, Mams Restaurant & Kamala Butchery. Circa 1500-2000 people are being fed every day in just my village alone but this is happening all over Phuket. Around 20,000 people in Phuket are being fed free meals on a daily basis so they can survive.

I am therefore attempting to raise International awareness and as much money as possible to feed my local community.

Every person who is cooking & distributing the food are doing so on a voluntary basis whilst the restaurant owners cover the costs of electric, gas etc to cook the food but the food distribution is solely reliant on donations. They need bottled water, rice, chicken, vegetables, bags & boxes to portion the food into as well as milk & nappies for babies..... All bare essentials to survive. The cost to feed one person is just 40 baht. In GBP, EUR & USD that is a little over or under £1 / €1 or $1 & in AUD it is just under $2

The money raised will be spent & used daily to buy the food supplies these restaurants need to make the hundreds & hundreds & hundreds of daily meals. Produce needed as listed above. I will also attempt to source as much of this produce locally in order to try & help get the local economy moving again.

Everyone in the world is suffering right now but if you have food in your fridge & a roof over your head you have more than those I am surrounded by. Please help me to raise awareness & as much money as possible so these local restaurants can continue to do their good work and the people of my village can survive.
