PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The young people of Bethany United Methodist Church in Reedville, Virginia have participated in gleaning projects for a number of years. Recently we learned that for $275 we can purchase a roll of mesh to make about 5,000 bags. The bags will be used by volunteers working for the Society of St. Andrew (http://www.endhunger.org) to glean nutritious produce from farmers' fields and orchards after the harvest. Within 48 hours of picking the produce, hungry Americans are usually eating the gleaned food.
Bethany UMC believes in expressing the love of God in practical ways. The making of gleaning bags is an excellent project for the young, old, and everyone in between in the church and community.
GOAL
Our aim is to raise $275. Your donation will go towards the purchase of a roll of mesh. Any funds raised above the cost of the mesh will be donated to the Society of St. Andrew to accomplish their mission to feed America's hungry.
