"FEED THE NEED " campaign is providing some of the potential hardest-hit communities in Maputo - Mozambique at risk of starvation during this pendemic Corona virus with food, clean water, hygienic items, health and nutrition programs and vital supplies to these families in the community.
The poor are particularly vulnerable to weather-induced risks simply by virtue of their poverty. Poor households have few assets to sell and their consumption is already low, so in times of scarcity they do not have much to buffer them from food insecurity. Most households have little income or real food security, and women-headed households have even less.
IT is no secret that the COVID-19 has invaded all aspects of life and leaving the vast majority of families in Slums and informal settlements in Mozambique wondering where their next meal would come from, food prices are drastically increasing due to much of Maputo's food comes from South Africa and a lot of that is brought in by informal traders who can no longer cross the border due to South Africa being on locked down. Last week the government announced a state of emergency for the period of 30 days to help reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19 around the country and the regulations so far do not take into account informal sector and informal traders.
With your support "Feed the Need campaign" frontline volunteer teams will be working across these communities to assist these women headed families who are mostly single mums raising children and extend family members, the elderly raising grandchildren, the poor and vulnerable children in these under-resourced communities to gain access to food, clean water, soapbox and encourage the importance of handwashing, safeguarding the hygiene, health and educational talks on the virus ( symptoms of the virus, prevention: how to protect themselves and prevent spreading the virus to others)
Funds collected from "Feed the Need campaign" will be used to purchase food goods, water, sanitary items, medical items and other necessary items for these communities from bulk suppliers.
The "Feed the Need campaign" initiative is Composed of local leaders, Churches' youth groups ready to serve as volunteers and other members of the community looking to make a Social impact and instill a sense of hope in the community.
