Hurricane Maria destroyed the lives, plans, property and health of many people in Puerto Rico. The devastation is the biggest crisis we have faced in modern history and on top of all the destruction of the hurricane, our agriculture and vegetation were destroyed. Private gardens and farms were left in ruins and schools who produced their own vegetables no longer have a garden where to teach their children.
We need to fix this!
Our initiative called "Reverdece Puerto Rico" or "ReGreen Puerto Rico" in English has a mission of bringing plants back to our islands while also helping create a future of food sovereignty and less dependence on imports.
Our objective is to bring plants, seeds, fruit trees and support households, collaborate in the reconstruction of the gardens in schools and rebuild agriculture.
- Give fruit trees and supplies to families in the most affected communities
- Give seeds to families and be part of supporting people who grow food in their own backyard
So far we have reached 2,270 families with fruit trees and/or seeds in all the 78 municipalities of Puerto Rico!
What we do:
Giving out seeds at various universities and town squares in Puerto Rico.
Visiting affected communities to give them fruit trees and supplies
Visiting and giving seeds in schools
What your donation will help with:
Buy fruit trees from local vendors
Pay for shipping of seed donationds
Pay for gas to go around the island giving out items and plants
Please write to us at [email protected] if you wish to donate supplies, emergency items, trees or seeds.
Thank you for your support and for being part of rebuilding a sustainable Puerto Rico!
