In the small rural town of Barrydale, with roughly 5500 people, we are faced with poverty, the need for food and job creation, on a daily basis. Many of the families do not have food, an income, or the skills to get into the workforce. Barrydale Training Hub has seen the need to educate the community in different skills, to uplift them.
Our food projects include the training and planting of veggie tunnels and a food kitchen, where we train the youth in food preparation. Part of this project is the daily preparation of meals. These meals are then taken to the families, who indicate that they do not have food for the family. With this, the families are cared for in a humane manner, where they don't have to stand in queues with little buckets, for food.
We are in the planning phase of an accredited computer training centre, technical skills centre, with training in skills like construction, plumbing, metalwork and electrical. Our farming centre will teach all about farming, from vegetables to fruit trees to pig and sheep farming skills. We even have a photography and filming centre planned for those who are interested in journalism.
Our mission is to uplift the families and ultimately the community through training so that every household has a home, food on the table and a self-sufficient income.
The money raised through this campaign will be used for our veggie tunnels and food kitchen program.
