FCCLA Leadership Conference

Hello, my name is Mariah McKenzie and I am a Junior in high school. I am trying to raise funds to attend the National FCCLA Leadership meeting this summer in Atlanta, GA. FCCLA stands for family, community career leaders of America. It is my first time qualifying to present a STAR event at the National level. I competed at the Iowa FCCLA State Leadership conference in the category of fashion design. I am hoping to raise enough funds to attend the event. FCCLA has helped me to learn many skills.

Through my project I gained time management and leadership skills. It involved a lot of planning on my part for the project. I challenged myself with the fashion design event. I made my first clothing pattern through this project and made a design of my own creation come to life! It has been an exciting project to work on and I hope with your support I can show my work at Nationals. FCCLA has a strong student community and has gained me new friendships from many towns across Iowa.
