We are trying to purchase a property to do organic farm training in South Africa.
In South Africa, the problem is that the state takes away farms from some farmers and gives it to other farmers with little or no experience. These farmers do not practice soil management or soil conservation as they have never been taught. There is a huge need to teach proper organic farming principles.
Organic farming is a system of agricultural and social design principles centered around simulating or directly utilizing the patterns and features observed in natural ecosystems.
It is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of chemical inputs with adverse effects. Keeping chemicals off the land, protects water quality and wild life. The aim is to eradicate the use of harmful chemicals by making effective use of nature’s natural resources. The principle is to treat the soil with respect knowing that the soil is the base for life on earth.
We will be supplying internships and also building a small pre-school on the property.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
