The young mothers are walking their children in the parking lots of the commercial areas, as the galloping real-estate development wasn’t compliant with the legal requirements and social needs, resulting in a concrete jungle, without any green areas!
Located in the immediate neighborhood of the Capital, the area rapidly grew over the few years, reaching an estimated population of 38,000 inhabitants, compared to the last official census which indicated 22,400 residents. The galloping demographic development of the area was also sustained by an aggressive real-estate extension, such that from mainly agricultural fields, plenty of apartment buildings were delivered in just a few years, covering almost every available piece of land. The new created community is dominated by young families, which already started having children, which therefore have no green areas to play, as the local authorities ignored this important topic.
As a consequence of the chaotic architectural and real-estate development, the mommies have no option to walk their newly born children or play their toddlers other than the parking lots of the commercial areas in the neighborhood. Hearing the cry of the mommies, to which the local authorities are deaf, 4 dedicated youth took initiative and started a local fundraising campaign in order to purchase one of the last available land parcels in the area, on which will develop a park. The initiative rapidly gained supporters and the message reached up to the national media to the concern of the local authorities which feel now threaten for their indifference and incompetence.
If you hear as well the yell of the young mothers and their children, please help us raise the sum needed for the purchase of the land.
Recognition will be on a plaque to be created at the park location.
