We're a family of 3 that has been highly affected by Covid-19.

We had pretty decent salary previously, applied for a HDB apartment and bought a family car. The car was purchased under hire purchase scheme, which essentially means took a loan from finance company.

Our apartment came. Both husband & myself lost our jobs at this point of time. We paid for some furniture and electronics with our credit card and hastily moved into our bare house with no renovations done. This was about a month before the Circuit Breaker lockdown due to the Covid-19 virus.

Our child was hospitalised. We did not purchase insurance for child, hence we have to pay for the hospitalisation fee with our savings. This took up a huge part of our savings, more than 85%. We continued our daily living by digging into our depleting savings, while interviewing for jobs.

I was lucky, I got a job soon. Their requirement was that I have a car, which I have. The nationwide lockdown for Covid-19 soon came and my husband was not able to go for interviews as openings ceased due to headcount freeze. By this time, we are really quite broke.

We had the intention to sell off the car, to see how much that could fetch to improve our current situation. And at worst scenerio to prep myself to get a new job after the sale of the car as I could no longer continue to work without the car (it's a prerequisite for the company). But we were told that we need to pay a sum of more than fifteen thousand to get them to take the car back. (Which we don’t have). So it meant that selling the car was not an option for us

My car is due for road tax and car insurance in June 2020, just nice after the lockdown. Without the car insurance and road tax the car can only just be parked in the carpark and cannot be driven out, that would break the law. Only if I can drive out then I can continue to work, as per mentioned by my company it’s a prerequisite. Hence I am appealing to the public to assist me financially to foot the bill for the car insurance + road tax, so that I can continue my job and to bring in income for my family. Otherwise I cannot work for the company anymore, and not only that is a halt for my family's income, I also still have to continue paying for my monthly season parking as selling the car is not a viable option.

Our family have taken to the extent of eating expired bread as a means for filling up our stomaches. Although my husband and I could do that, my toddler is still on rice & milk feeds, hence I really cannot afford to lose this job if possible, I still have a child to feed. Please consider my appeal for funding. When my financial situation gets better, I will definitely come back to this site to donate to help others in need, to contribute back to the kindness cycle. Right now I could only think of selling whatever furniture we have to generate some income for our meals. Please do help if you can.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any amount is most appreciated. ($1.50 can help us buy a loaf of fresh bread, $5 can help us buy a pack of the cheapest brand of 5kg rice). Thank you.
