Campaign Story
My son Thorin and I miss each other very much. He has been living for almost two years in southern Ontario at a treatment facility and unfortunately it seems now he will not be returning back to his hometown and family in Northern Ontario. For this reason I liquidated whatever possible, sold off possesions, drained my bank account, and borrowed money in order to pay for transcripts and legal fees for an appeal. The rest of the money was to relocate as close as possible to him. As soon as I moved here I was informed that they were considering moving him.. again. Whether they do or not it is clear it will take funds to keep pursuing having my parental rights to DIRECT HIS CARE restored. the Northern Travel grant program, for instance. It is my only wish (and his too) that by this summer he will be visiting me at my home a few times a week, and I am seeing a lot more of him in his community, until he is slowly integrated back into my home with whatever community supports there are available down there. I would be grateful for any help from anyone. Thank you, form my son and I.

I would like to say, that I once had the funds to relocate and live while I looked for work, and contribute to his care etc. but after paying for transcripts for use in the appeal it took my whole $5,600.00. I was appealing the decision that I would not direct his care as it was felt I could not afford the resources..tax payers fund a certain AGENCY to the tune of $1.5 BILLION dollars annually, but not parents with special needs kids.. This logic makes my head SPIN. Parents actually CAN access these funds and resources if they are helped to properly apply but for some reason are not informed of this, and are discouraged from doing so.

THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts Susan. I know you said that because you happen to know the situation personally, the whole situation and just how awful and unnecessary the whole situation was (how LONG it dragged on and the damage done..) which is difficult to really explain on here. I am just focusing on what can be done NOW to deal with the fall out, so being able to relocate and start over again would go a long way.. THANK YOU SO MUCH
