Family Readiness Group for Co. F 53rd BSB FSC

Dear Sir or Maam,

My name is Jamie Melendez, the Family Readiness Coordinator for Foxtrot Company, 53rd Brigade Support Battalion, Forward Support Company, in Haines City, FL of the Florida National Guard.  We are a non-for profit organization of the military. 

Due to The Global War on Terrorism which resulted in the transformation of amy units in the FL Army National Guard, teh inception of my unit began in early 2007.  The Soldiers and leaders of my unit were transferred from other Florida Army National Units and continue to grow to this day.  Our unit consist of Maintenance Platoon, A Transportation/Distribution Platoon, a POL (fuel) Section, and a Headquarters Platoon which consist of the unit's command leadership, the Supply Section, the Mess Section, and a Nuclear, Biological, and a Chemical Specialist.  Our mission is to support teh 2nd Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment which belongs to the 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team which is located in Pinellas Park, FL. Our unit stands ready to support and defend the local communities and Florida during times of natural disaster or civil unrest.

There are a number of Soldiers in my unit that have served overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan in The Global War on Terrorism with distinction.  This unit mobilized to support Operation Iraqi/Edurance Freedom in January 2009 to defend our nation.  We had many Soldiers to which this was their second deployment. We currently have Soldiers in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.  For our Soldiers, we want to show them gratidtude by giving them a memorable Holiday Celebration.

Famliy Readiness is an integral part of the unit's success while the Soldiers are deployed, so that the families here at home are able to assist and support each other, and to come together in time of need.  In December 2012 during drill weekend, Foxtrot Company will be having our inaugural Family Readiness Support get together at the National Guard Armory in Haines City, FL. During this time, Soldiers, leaders, and families will be united together to meet and greet and increase the Espirit de Corps and camaraderie among each other and our extended family, the Soldier's family.

Foxtrot Company and the Family Readiness Group are requesting either monetary contributions or donations to make this event a success.  Your contributions and/or donations will assist us during this time, but will also assist our unit and our Soldier's in the future.
