Our Family

I'm Valerie, my husband is Chris and the children are Devon (11), Lucas (9), and Salem (5).

Our Story

My husband usually works about 400 miles away from home. He makes good money at it, so I'm a stay at home mom. Well, in early June, he was laid off. I'll admit that we weren't all that great at saving money, so we had very little at the time to help carry us through such an emergency. In the months since, we have been evicted twice and we voluntarily surrendered my husband's vehicle, in the hopes of cutting the bills back so we could keep my car so we could still get around. He has confirmation that he will be going back to work in March,  but that is still 3 months off, and now the government is cutting emergency unemployment compensation, which he is on. We are one missed payment arrangement away from losing our car and phone. If we don't have the phone, he can't be called about his job, and without the car, we can't get him to the job. We moved in with my parents, thinking that doing so would cut expenses and we'd be able to concentrate on paying the car payments and get caught up on them. We were here for 2 days when we got the letter about the government cutting the money. My parents live on disability and have no way of helping us financially. Their car wouldn't make it the 400 miles to get him to work either. It's old and not in good enough condition to make the trip. I have a payment arrangement set up for this coming Friday the 27th. I made the arrangement before I knew they were cutting the money. If I can't make that one, I'm pretty sure they are coming to get my car. We are in desperate need right now. When he goes back to work in March, we'll be fine, but we just need some help to get by until then. Please please help us. We only need to get by for a couple more months.
