Emilia and Sava’s Family Home Burnt to Ashes

Hi everyone,

Let me start off by saying that 2021 has been a horrific year so far for so many people. We have all been lucky to survive the past 18 months, considering everything that is going on in SA, as well as globally.

What has taken an already difficult year to the next extreme for my family (My mom-in-law, Emilia, my boyfriend, Sava and myself) was us standing in the street at 22h30 on Monday the 26 ^th of July 2021, helplessly watching our family home burn to the ground, in Lynnwood Ridge, Pretoria.

We are so grateful that Mom got out unharmed and no one else was injured, before the blaze spread from the living room to the rest of the house, but the loss of a home for the past 15 years for Sava and Mom, and the past 10 years for me was truly soul shattering.

All the memorabilia, the sentimental items passed down from generation to generation, photos, videos and trinkets perished.

With the home loan, there is building insurance, which we hope will be processed and approved to start rebuilding the structure, but due to trying times we did not have household contents insurance, everything we had besides Mom's bedroom was burnt to Ashes. ( Thank you to the firefighters for their speedy work to extinguish the flames in time to save the room)

Thankfully Sava and I have a place of our own, which we moved into 9 months ago, to start our own life together, and Mom is with us here and we are all together, supporting each other through this nightmare.

This is something you never think can happen to you, until it actually does. You see reports in the news and you heart aches for the family affected, but never once does it cross your mind that, that could be you and your family.

Therefore I plead with anyone who has anything to spare, to please help us raise some money or possibly donate furniture/appliances/anything to replace what was lost.
