Faith in God

Jose Carlos Carrillo is the oldest of 3 children and the only son. He has always been the rock of the family. When advice is needed or if we are seeking comfort and direction, he is the one we turn to. He has been married to his wife Estela for 22 years. Together they have 4 amazing children, 2 boys and 2 girls ranging in age from 21-12 years old. He is a dedicated family man who has worked every day since he was 16 to provide for his loved ones. Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Carlos knows the love and adoration that is shared between him and his children. He is the quiet humble type of man that even through all this his laughter and smile are contagious and light up the room.

In November of 2015 he started having trouble swallowing, eating solid foods became more and more difficult for him as time progressed. By March of 2016 the agony and inability to hold food down became too much and he finally went to the doctor. In April he got diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer that had already spread to his liver. At that time the doctor gave him 6 short months to live.

After several months of doctor appointments and the emotional roller coaster ride of the process we decided it was time to seek other options. With his health deteriorating at a rapid rate we are looking for any way to prolong his life and slow down the process in which the cancer is taking over his body.

We found a treatment center in Tijuana called Oasis of Hope. After countless other doctors and facilities telling us there is nothing else they can do for him, that is exactly what this place is giving us…. Hope. Not that he will get better but the hope of time. Precious time for him to spend with his loved ones. Time for his children to spend with their father that they would not otherwise have. This is a difficult time for him and our family. The treatment is broken into three cycles. We are being told the treatment will prolong his life in hopes of a year or even longer. That time comes at a high price. The three cycles cost a total of $50,000, $10,000 of which we have already paid. With him being the main provider for the family these costs have become undoable.

We are reaching out in hopes that some of you will be able to help us make this hope a reality. That his wife, children and loved ones will be able to gain this extra time with him.
