“FACE(S) OF BASADI” is a Performing Art installation concept of Gaby Saranouffi, a dancer/choreographer; Artistic Director of “ITROTRA ART X CONNECTION” from Madagascar/South Africa in collaboration with Jodi Bieber, South African photographer who has won numerous international awards.
The work explores the important steps that women in Africa takes in their cultural or traditional journeys, e.g: using the rite of passage as a pillar. Also, looking into the way Reed Dance of South Africa encourage and support the young girls in their journey to become a woman. The project includes Dance and Photography workshops sessions with finality into a Performing Art; followed by an interactive discussions with the audiences based on “Women – Arts Industry in South Africa”. The project is hosted by ITROTRA ART X CONNECTION in Johannesburg and IMONTI DANCE ARTS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY in The Eastern Cape, in partnership with the Goethe-Institut South Africa as part of the Goethe-Institut Project Space (GPS).
For our project in Eastern Cape at MDANTSANE ARTS CENTRE (Township), we are giving free DANCE & PHOTOGRAPHY workshops to the YOUTH of Madantsane and will need assistance for the youth to get local transportation, food, water during the workshops, some equipment for the workshops.
