Campaign Story
Blue Pride buys wild seeds like marula, mongongo and kgenwe from individuals in villages of Botswana. It then extracts oils from these seeds. This oil is sought after around the world. Unemployed youth and elderly are able to generate an income for themselves with no required investment, just the will to earn and leveraging their natural environment. In 2018, Blue Pride had over 300 collectors and employed 7 full-time staff. All processing takes place in the small villages where we collect.
Blue Pride desperately needs this money to buy 3 simple but necessary pieces of equipment. If it can do this then it will finally be able to create a sustainable value chain that will see hundreds, maybe thousands benefit. No ministry is willing to support us with real investment in equipment but rather sends our staff for training and to workshops. This is great, BUT it won’t make this a sustainable project. There is no funding for such an innovative business model. The founding team are mother and son and have already committed hundred of thousands of their own savings and earnings developing specialized machinery and buying seeds to make this project possible.
This is a social enterprise and with your help we can make a real difference in communities and reward them for safeguarding our environmental heritage.
