The present research shows the socioeconomic problems faced by the below poverty line people are mountain high. The study is based on primary source of data, collected through the field survey in the Kulpi (south 24 parganas ,West Bengal, India ) and in Lalgarh ( Jhargram District ,West Bengal, India ) carried out during 2018. The research reveals that poverty, unemployment, lack of electricity, sanitation, potable water and proper housing, non availability of ration card, lack of money, various disease, etc. are main problems faced by the Below poverty line people .The help received from the Government by those people merely are Voter Cards and Rations cards. This study demonstrates that this section of population is the most poor among poorest who are still thriving for one of the traditional basic need, that is food, what may be predicted about the status of the other remaining needs (Clothing and Shelter). The new additive modern needs (health, education and recreation) are the heavenly dreams to them.

It is distressing to see people sleeping on the street without food and proper clothing ,we should demanding real solutions , not using legislation to hide the problem.
