Life wouldn’t be nearly as interesting, exciting or emotional without friends along for the ride, however the sad part is as we grow older, we create new friendships and allow older ones to die out. In my case also I would have to admit that despite being an emotional and a caring person who truly and deeply cares about others especially my friends and family still lose touch with people sometimes. My reasons for this are probably the same as everyone else’s. You grow up, you move, and you meet new people. In short, life happens.
I use Facebook, Skype, texting, or email, to make it easy to stay in touch with friends and family often thinking “I know exactly what’s going on in my high school classmates’ lives because I see them on Facebook every day!” But do I REALLY know? Or do I just THINK I know? This question often comes to my mind yet it never feels like the right moment to get in touch. The more time passes, the less likely it seems they’ll want to hear from me. Perhaps it’s only recently that I contacted few of my old school friends living in distant cities to see how everyone’s been doing. This one phone call brought back all the good memories of our childhood to the forefronts of our minds. The short conversation brought not only the smile on our faces but it also forced us to realise how cut off we’ve become since we left school. That’s it……I instantly asked them for a Reunion trip to Goa (that we once planned on the day of graduating from high school, i.e. April 1994, we promised to ourselves that when we grow up and settle down for good in life we will take a holiday together in GOA at least once in life)
Apparently most of my friends happily agreed to take a holiday in Goa except for the two of our friends who despite their willingness to join us had explained that both of them have been hit hard by the recent Covid 19 pandemic and as such their businesses are under serious financial strain, hence they could not afford to take this trip. I know it isn’t a surprise anymore that Covid 19 has caused a lasting plunge in savings for most households, disrupted spending patterns across categories and even forced people to change or give up on their holiday plans just like two of my friends.
So, here I am writing this page up seeking support from all you guys who understand the importance of taking a trip with the old friends and please note that I seek crowd funding support to raise USD$1200 only to cover the travelling costs of the two friends who feel that their current financial situation will not allow them to have a good time with us.
We might not have seen each other for a long time but the appetite to meet had not waned and we are very much willing to take the initiative to go on a Reunion trip to GOA in April 2021 to reconnect with each other, to remind us of the person we once were and allow us to better judge the person we have become. In short it’s about time to rekindle the friendship.
I thank you all once again for going through this page and please know that any contribution for our Reunion trip to Goa will be much appreciated.
Much love and God Bless !!
