Everest BaseCamp trek “Adopts a rare”

We are traveling to Nepal, and hiking to the Everest Basecamp in order to raise awareness about rare diseases. One of the international rare diseases awareness campaign, is “Raise your Hands for Rare Diseases”. So we want to raise our hands from an altitude of 5364m !!!

Through this effort, we are also trying to raise funds to support the "Monadika xamogela" -Unique Smiles Association (www.monadikaxamogela.org/), for the project "Adopt a rare" -This program covers the needs of a particular patient with a rare disease, such as treatments, hospitalization abroad, etc.

For some, this trek is just a warm up for their big summit push; for others is pinned at the top of their bucket list, as their biggest challenge of their lives. All people face different challenges on their life's journey. For some, the challenge is the distance, for others is the altitude, and for others is leaving their family behind. We need to learn how to accept people instead of judging them, how to support instead of ignoring. We are all different, some are even rare, but this is what makes the world around us beautiful. "Alone I am rare, but together we are strong".
