Eve’s Education

My niece Eve is 15 years old and goes to a Montessori school as she is unable to attend a school in mainstream education. Eve has high functioning austism (Asperger Syndrome), dyslexia, dyspraxia and  dyscalcula. She also suffers from social anxiety and struggles to be in any environment with too much noise or too many people.

My sister is a single parent of three children and receives no additional financial support. Although she works as a teacher it isn't enough to support the four of them and pay for Eve's education. Due to very generous donations from family and friends Eve has managed to be educated privately for the past five years but we are not able to provide financial help any longer.

When Eve left mainstream education she was struggling to read and write and talked about hating her life, she was depressed and had very low self esteem.  Now Eve rarely has her nose out of a book and while studying is still a real struggle for her she feels better about herself and her life.

The opinion of all the professionals working with Eve is that she must stay in private education and wouldn't be able to cope in any of the large local secondary schools. Unless we can raise some funds for Eve that may be her only option and we can't bear to think about the impact this will have on her health and well being, so if you can donate even a small amount it will all help towards giving her a future.
