Lugari is among the poorest constituencies in Western Province and in Kenya, this notwithstanding the abundant natural and human resources.  There are rampant cases of youth unemployment, abject poverty, inadequate water, poor health facilities as well as poor infrastructure (impassible road network) The majority of the youth in Lugari, even those who are highly educated are unemployed and idle.  Some have resorted to the cumbersome boda boda business, which is highly competitive, less paying and energy sapping. The much publicized Youth Enterprise Funding has not only inadequate but unfair distribution in our constituency. The Majority of women who engage in informal business in Lugari constituency have no access to soft loans or credit facilities since they have no title deeds to act as guarantees.  The existing microfinance institutions have high interest rates that often exploit the borrowers and therefore discourage potential applicants.  The Womens Enterprise Funds has the potential gimmick which is yet to be distributed.
