Bancran Tug of War won the NI Championships this year and have qualified for
2016 TWIF World Outdoor Championship in Malmö, Sweden on the 8th and 9th September - more details http://www.towsweden.com/
This is a huge achievement however it’s a huge expense for the club to get the pullers to the event and as you probably can imagine its going to take alot of funding to get there!
The pullers self fund these trips which involved expenses of flights, accommodation, airport transfers, accreditation and then the club fund entry fees and registrations. It costs approx £1000 per puller for these types of events.
This is a chance that does not come around very often and we want to grow on our success from last year when we lifted the European title on home soil, in Belfast.
Bancran Tug of war has been in existence since the mid 1960s when a team was formed in the townland of Bancran on the outskirts of Draperstown and in the foothills of the Sperrins. The success of the team had many ups and downs but in the late 1990s the team was reformed and a new young team emerged on the scene. The young team prospered and with the help of Mickey Bradley the fledgling team have prospered to the stage where they are a team that are hard to handle in the competition arena.Since our organization relies on the generosity of individuals like yourself, we write to ask you to consider a donation. We hope that you will help support our club and help us bring home this success to our small community.Without these donations and assistance we could simply not exist.
Google Tug of War and you will see just how quickly Tug of war is becoming more recognised as an official Sport.
