Who Am I?

Hi there! My name´s Nuno and I´m a 49-years old husband and dad from Lisbon, Portugal. For decades I´ve thoroughly worked, quite successfully, in the marketing industry. I´ve traveled far and wide, did many interesting things but then... life came in the way!

Why do I need the money for

I´m the sole provider of my family. I have an autistic 6-years old son and a stage 4 cancer patient wife. I have already approved business and marketing plans, a place where to open my takeaway restaurant, and a whole lot of will to work. I need to get this life-changing idea started and provide my neighbourhood and city with some delicious meals.

And then came the bad news

I have two sons - an already adult 21-years old and a lovely 6-years old - and a wife. The family is small but we´re quite happy. In the mid of the financial crisis, we found out that my youngest is autistic. Quite a shock, but we kept going on. So that the kid could have the best support possible, my wife started working from home, freelancing - and facing all the consequences that such a choice poses.

I became, virtually, the sole provider for my family, And then, all of a sudden, we received the news no family should receive: my wife, at just 37, had stage 4 breast cancer. From that moment on I dedicated myself to being the carer of both my wife and son, dealing with a new world of pain and physical hardship that I wouldn´t even dare to dream of.

Hello Covid-19

Life isn´t easy, yes I know it very well. So, while at home taking care of my family, with no job, I began working on a plan of starting a small business of my own, something that would enable me to provide for my family. It had to be close enough home so I could keep helping my wife on her recovery and maintain all my special needs kid´s routines, like school and therapies.

I love to cook, especially Asian food, and after trying out an incredible number of ideas I finally figured out the perfect plan: a Thai food takeaway! I don´t even need to leave my neighbourhood and found out the ideal spot. Made my top-notch business case, presented it and it was quite a success. Had a grant on sight that would enable me to open my take-away in no time and finally start working, but hey! Here comes Covid-19.
