Hello everyone. I want to tell you about my mom’s case. She was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) with an increased number of blast cells (immature bone marrow cells), which could be transformed into leukemia. Currently, there is a treatment that could help her stop this illness and even cure it.

We cannot afford this treatment due to its enormous cost.

We are a family of four; my parents and my sister, who has cerebral palsy and entirely depends on us, she can’t speak nor walk, she’s 46 years old. My parents are the mainstay of the family, and we have always taken care of my sister, which also means huge expenses. My father doesn’t have a steady income, and I have an average paying job, which is not enough to cover all the costs (medication, diapers, doctors, etc.)

This treatment has given us a hope of life. For this reason, we are asking for your help, so we could be able to provide this treatment for my mother. Unfortunately, our healthcare system does not cover this type of medical care.

My mom needs a hypomethylating agent treatment for which we need around MXN$500,000.00 pesos (this comes out to roughly $23K depending on the exchange rate of the day). The treatment is divided into 4 sessions of MXN$125,000 pesos each (almost $6,000 USD each), including medication, treatment, and hospital and doctor bills.

My mom has always been the most cheerful and optimistic person, this illness has her feeling exhausted and in low spirits.

We want to keep my mom for a long time.
