Campaign Story
We are a team of thirteen young people and two youth workers, currently taking part in National Citizen Service with Groundwork Sunderland. As a part of our program, we are required to do some social action in the community. As a team, we decided to do some fundraising for Erin's Legacy, as it is close to many of our hearts.
Erin Bates was a young girl from Washington who was passionate about football. In June 2013, aged 11, she was diagnosed with a high grade glioma, deep in her brain. Sadly, after a long year of fighting, Erin lost her battle on the 15th July 2014.
Erin's Legacy is connected to Teenage Cancer Trust and NECCR, so all money raised will be distributed between the two charities. To raise money, we are doing a sponsored stadium-to-stadium walk (St James' park to Stadium of Light), a public leg waxing and a 'boxing day dip' at Seaburn beach. These events will take place between the 11th and 14th of August.
