Through volunteering with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), we identified a very serious youth poverty problem. We did several researches and engaged the youth and other primary stakeholders to try and find the root cause of the problem.
We found out that the youth do not have any entrepreneurship education and that forces them to rely on employment, which is very scarce.
This is despite that there are numerous government agencies that offer to fund start ups.
We found that through training students in the Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) in Taita Taveta County, we could contribute heavily in combating the high poverty rates in Taita Taveta County and Kenya in general; creating sustainable communities and attaining SDGs.
