After a life changing experience and seeing the havoc of drugs and alcohol abuse in the surrounding villages, I embarked on converting my home and space into a healing and rehabilitation centre for people with substance abuse problems and addiction.

Entabeni Healing and Rehabilitation Home is secluded amongst the majestic mountains bordering Swaziland and South Africa in a rural village called Sahhulube in Mpumalanga, South Africa. This is a tranquil and healing space with rolling mountains and a lush green flora full of and trees where mineral filled water runs undisturbed from springs in the mountains.

The rural villages surrounding Entabeni are previously disadvantaged where alcoholism and drugs have increased. A majority of the youth leave secondary schooling with no other alternatives as there is rarely any means to finance higher education and this as a result, discourages them and leads them into all sorts of negative activities.

However, the space and programmes are open to anyone who is battling with an addiction or is affected by an addiction.

With the help of an experienced and qualified team, we aim to help those addicted to drugs, alcohol and narcotics to regain normal lives and equip them with tools to re enter society and support them in a healthy and safe way.

We currently have a communal kitchen, meeting hall, 1 outdoor toilet and shower, 2 separate rooms for men and women which can accommodate 6 people in total.

We would like to build 4 more rooms with toilets and showers. We also need to replace the water pipes and fencing. We depend on solar power and require a solar or alternative energy system that can accommodate 15 to 20 people at a time including telecoms equipment. We would also require furniture such as single beds and tables. Our programes also aims to engage the young minds in arts and culture while they learn ways of sustainable and ecological living using their immediate resources, and alternative energy and technology solutions. We therefore require tools and equipment.

We need an estimated R150 000.00 to build and refurbish the space into a comfortable and safe place where healing and rehabilitation can be facilitated in conducive and productive way.

Your help will go a long way in helping not only the people battling with addiction, but their families and community as a whole, because addiction never affects a person in isolation.

Thank you for taking the time to read my request.
