After lots of thought, before I go to university in September to train to become a teacher, the summer should be spent doing what I love, exploring new places and helping those less fortunate than me. Therefore, I will be spending a month in the capital town of Bali, Tabanan, teaching English to children in local schools.

Children in developing countries have the right to a good education just as much every other child does. Unfortunately, and as we all know, this doesn't always happen due to lack of money, resources and structure in schools. Which is why I have decided to invest time to help the children of Bali to ensure that their future is bright! I will be teaching English to children of all ages, some not far from my own age. Lessons will cover writing, speaking, spelling, grammar, pronunciation and much much more. Conversing with fluent, native English speakers will improve their language skills, essential for future employment, and the explosion of tourism in Bali means the need to speak English has never been greater. Bali is a destination that has become recognized as an ideal location to hold international conferences and seminars. Therefore, the ability to speak English has become essential as a language to learn for Balinese people to move forward in life and enable them to have direct contact with tourists and enhance the countries recognition and visibility on a global stage, as it is estimated that 2 billion people use English to communicate on a regular basis.

I will be completing a TEFL course before I leave for the trip too, where information will be provided on teaching with limited resources, methodology, pedagogy, and ideas for creating interesting and engaging lessons. The project will fuel my passion for teaching and the English language, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be able to use my skills to help others, and to really make a difference to the less fortunate children of Tabanan. I will also be using the time to explore the beautiful island, I plan to visit Gili's paradise islands, the picturesque village of Ubud, the Royal Palace, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary and the Tirta Empul temple.

I'm so excited to have the opportunity to embark on such a special journey and adventure, and any help is hugely appreciated. Thank you.
