English Teaching in Ambolangoda

Hi I'm John, I'm 17 and this summer I am travelling to Sri Lanka on a two week volunteering scheme organised by Plan My Gap Year. I will be volunteering as part of an English teaching initiative located in Ambolangada to help those displaced by the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami. I hope this will not only be a rewarding experience for me but I also hope to personally improve the lives of the young people worst affected and give them a chance at a better future through education.

The total cost of the trip will be around £1600, and I hope to raise about £400 of that through donations on this page. Any excess funds raised I will donate to 'Rebuilding Sri Lanka' a charity dedicated to helping those affected by the Tsunami.

I am currently training for the Royal Berkshire 10k on 15th May, and to start off my funding I am looking for sponsorship for this race. No donation is too small and I really appreciate anything you are willing to give!
