English Community in Indonesia

-     Community Needs You Right Now! -

First Question

Who doesn’t know about English Language? Many people including our friends, colleague, and even a housewife know about this. But they have the same answer when asked,

“Why you’re unable to speak in English right now?”

“This course is expensive, we need a long time for learning it.” That’s the answer.

 

That answer seems to be seen more clearly. Without an intention of erasing the business side of English language. I would like to create a place where people could gather and learn about English language with a minimum payment (or even free), and that could be found within a community.

We must set one purpose which is helping anyone who said that there’s no chance for them to get the opportunity for studying English language. And throughout this purpose it is also means that we’re guiding people towards specific direction we wanted. 

 

More steps ahead

With a few vocabularies I had since 10 years old (when I was in 4^th grade), and now I’m 25^th years old, but I’m still confident if somebody asked me to act as a presenter and they requested me to use English language, I’m still confident enough to do it. 

Why? Because I do believe that if we have lots of practice, everything, if it’s repeated over and over, thus it can sharpen our skills. Similar to a stone with water drops that always seen in the rainy season. If you realized it also, time will gives a change to that stone. Even the shape of that stone would be different from the first time that water dropped onto it. Although we know that water is soft / smooth, but It can break the stone after few period of time.

I do believe that kind of situation could be happened towards anyone of us and not only for that stone. Including us, the principle is still the same. It’s possible for us from hard to speak become easy to speak. It is possible.

For that reason, I tried to invite few friends or even anyone around me. I tried to invite them to teach here, and also say to the world that there’s a place for learning English language here.

The first activities happened on February 2013 at Naripan street no.23, Bandung, it’s a place of my grandma. She was a manager of knitting machine (clothes, socks, etc productions). She has a production room with a size of 3x4m2.I borrowed that room for having this English session to be held there.

I tried to explain to my family that by giving knowledge to anyone, it will give us many benefit. We can share our thought, we can get new friends, we can even help them to get what their dreams are! We can be the inspiring person using this kind of activity! 

And thankfully, my aunt wanted to join me at that moment. She has nothing else to do, that’s why she joined. For almost 1 month, she’s with me. But after that seems she felt she’s got nothing new, and she’s quit. Only some of my friends including me who stay conducting this activity.

Although the numbers of participant are always increased and decreased as all we know. But at least at the first time it held here, about 10 male students coming from various age from 18th-21styears old. Plusby 4 female students with age of 16th-20th years old. And added again by another participants with a different background from High School, University, including housewife.

When I saw that situation I felt that this community is actually calling me, and they are calling you as well! They need us! If they have the opportunity to came here, with a bold belief that here they could study English, I’m sure they will come and join here! But that’s impossible if nobody helps for spreading the news right? So please spread out this news towards anyone of your friends / family networks.
 

- Main Objective -

To be a place for upgrading English language skills through social life (free).

If there’s a hospital who can help the poor people to get medicine, why we couldn’t do the same for giving a knowledge of English language? It’s a fact!

To elaborate various students / people to the comprehensive English session held here.

There’s so many people that has the capability but they’re placed wrongly in their daily job. Life is meaningless when we’re in a wrong position! We’re inviting them to be a part of our team member.

To be a place for internship students from any school / campus. Giving them a best experiences for teaching English directly!

Give a chance for Asian can do the same.

Don’t let the small country could do best effort for their social, if we’re having big islands why we couldn’t use our natural resources we’ve had?

To be the first route for sending people towards their dreams.

If English language could help them achieving their goals, such as being good narrator / speaker / etc in their role life, why not?!

To be a public room either in actual life / air (radio) for spreading out English language towards anyone.

English Radio for Asian is more high value rather than listening to a music pub!

But what we need here is not just a room, we need more, a bigger building, a wider place for upgrading this kind of activities. It’s located at…

There’s an empty area with a size of 254m2. It’s fully owned by us. But right now, there’s no building yet.

What we need here is the new building to be built on that area. So the place would be more official, more better. It’s for this community!

 

Tools

Until now, we expand some materials through several books from the bookstore, such as :

Bahasa Inggris 52M (edisi jilid 1,2, dan 3)

Of Herpinus Simanjuntak, plus CD audio, Bahasa Inggris 24 Jam Plong A-Z, English-Indonesa Dictionary.

And also some other materials collected from various websites such as BBC, talkenglish, etc.

Currently, we have few common tools such as whiteboard, board markers, set of chairs, dvd (mp3)-player, and also a room.

What we need here is few new tools for giving best access while learning English language such as computer / laptop, TV LCD, including several books / magazine / lessons.

Lastly, by having a radio, that’s our biggest dream!

 

Expenses

We clearly say that we will not do anything unless we’re in a team. And of course a team consist of few people is better than a single person. With a same interest of English language, those people involved need efforts, their mind, and their time that is not a little.

Thus, We need some cash for them who involved. Don’t let the same case happened towards my aunt who left (last story I told)

Our electricity and other cost are using personal expenses.
