Campaign Story
I am a 42 year old lady who was diagnosed with endometriosis 20 years ago. I am a trained occupational therapists, but due to the chronic pain I am unable to practice as a therapist.
In December 2015, I underwent surgery to remove severe scar tissue. The operation was long and I was out of work for 2 months. I have returned to work, but have constant pain and have to take many days out. I have been referred to South Africa for further management as the pain is getting more severe.
I have just been granted a divorce as my husband left me because he could not deal with my infertility and reduced conjugal rights. The irony of it all was that when he left me I was pregnant and didn't know it. I subsequently gave birth to a beautiful little girl at 30 weeks gestation. She is now 4 years old and is doing pretty well despite being born pre-term.
Living with endometriosis is very expensive, and I have been left with a lot of debt and also incurred additional debt with lawyers' fees for the divorce. I desperately need to go to South Africa for medical expertise that is not in our country. This will mean time off work and additional expenses.
Please help me
- Pay my medical bills
- Be debt-free so I can concentrate on getting better.
- Be able to complete my home for my child's sake
- Conquer endometriosis!!
