You Can Make an Uplifting Change for Survivors and Victims of Abuse

Most of us have heard the facts about domestic violence, but unless we have lived through such trauma there is no way to understand the feelings that are connected to it. Some of the images you see here today may be a bit disturbing, but there is nothing pretty about domestic violence. It is time to face the reality and the urgency surrounding this epidemic so many have chosen to ignore. The victims and the survivors need our help.

These are women, elderly and children mostly, though in rare instances men can too be victims of DV that will require years to heal. Even then, the effects and the scars, both internal and external, can last a life time.

We see the angel trees, the drop boxes and the Salvation Army men and women ringing the holiday bells for the poor, but rarely do we see anything for those who suffer from or have suffered through domestic abuse. This year it is time we reach out to these silent victims and the survivors to let them know that they are not alone.

Let’s all do our part to make an “uplifting change” whether it is donating to the many women and children’s shelters or nursing homes throughout the holiday season or by donating to a charity like mine who will get the funds to where they are needed the most.

These organizations will gladly accept books, toys, hygiene’s, clothing, shoes (especially children’s shoes) and uplifting things to help these women and their children get through the storm.

Nursing homes should be included in this outreach as well. Many times the elderly are abused and no one knows of their fate. These are many times people who are alone or rarely visited by their family, and some have no family. Offering time, encouragement and uplifting gifts may make their holiday (oftentimes their last holidays) the best ones they can recall.

If you really want to make a difference in the lives of these victims and survivors who most always feel isolated and alone, but you have no idea where to start or no time to research places that will benefit the most them make your donation to Uplifting Change through Healing Words.

All of the proceeds will go to uplift the survivors of elderly abuse and Domestic violence. This is completely non-prophet and hands on. Here at Uplifting Change the effects of DV are all too real. Not only is the road a very personal one, but it is one that’s effects are all too familiar.

The Uplifting Change through Healing Words website is currently under construction. We are on a mission to educate, get the word out about how important it is to step out of the shadows into the light and to find freedom from the bonds of violence. Education and healing are the primary goals of Uplifting Change. We are on a mission to turn victims into survivors, and also to give hope to the hopeless.

Every 8 seconds a woman is abused, and one in three abused women will die because of domestic violence. Many times these as well as elderly abuse crimes will never be reported. It is not unheard of to work beside someone or go to church with someone for years and never know that they were abused, and children oftentimes are abused and/or become abusers later in life when reared in these situations.

If we can get these elderly, women and children to the place they need to be to heal, only then will they have a chance. Still, it takes all of us to be our brothers, and our sisters, keeper. A friend of mine once stated that “Life after abuse is challenging but if you have the right support in place uplifting-change can and will happen over time.”

It is also urgent that we not disassociate from the reality of it all. Domestic violence programs have suffered harsh blows with budget cuts and these people need our help more than ever. Women and elderly people left in these situations are basically being left to die, and this could be any of our children. Domestic abuse does not discriminate. It can happen to anyone we know or love. So ask yourself, would you want someone to help your daughter, sister, and your child or your grandmother?

You can start making a difference today by going to my donations pageandmaking a donation.

Again, your donations are 100% applied to the domestic violence survivors throughout the holidays to be uplifted and then on to trying to help those in dangerous situations find the light at the end of what has become a very long tunnel.

Don’t leave these innocent victims to die, and don’t let them go on alone any more. Make an uplifting change today.
