South Africa is home to some of the most endangered species of animals in the world, with an unstable economy and government, urbanisation is at its peak. The most endangered tortoise specie on earth, the geometric tortoise has already lost 95% of its habitat, especially the parts around Cape Town, I have various reptiles which I am working with but need funds to apply for permits to be legally allowed to work with protected species and also breed. If everything is successful then land can be obtained and the project can be done on a larger scale, security will in this case also have to become into consideration due to endangered species fetching high prices on the black market and poaching a thing of the unfortunate reality. UVB lighting is an essential component when housing baby tortoises because they cannot absorb calcium without it. Let me please make the following clear:
NO animals in this project will be sold to private reptile collectors, this is purely to make a difference and to increase numbers of various reptile species. I also run a group In South Africa on Facebook called The Cape Tortoise Group for any references. Tortoises are my passion because so many are killed on our roads in South Africa, they are very slow and helpless animals but play a major role in our ecosystem. Every permit application to move animals from other centres to mine is at a cost of R150 +- $11. I can be reached on various platforms. You can privately message me on the Facebook group or add me to whatsapp and any photos requested for authenticity can be provided.
