Our dear friend, Don Levy, passed away on March 27, 2018. His life partner of 39 years, artist Chuck Feesago, needs funds to help with end-of-life costs and a celebration of Don’s life. The celebration will be held on Don’s birthday, April 15 (details below). Any donation, no matter how small, will be much appreciated.

Don was born on April 15, 1937 at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles. Tragically, his father was killed in an auto accident two months before he was born and his mother died in childbirth. He was adopted and raised by a friend of his mother, a realtor, and her husband, a clothing manufacturer with several stores located throughout Los Angeles.

Don graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1954. He studied music and pre-med at USC. He graduated from Cal State LA with a masters in psychology and was licensed as an MFCC (Marriage Family Child Counselor).

Don had a varied career working at times as a sales rep for industrial parts export to European markets, a yacht broker, and founder of Titian Industries fax machines/services. He also founded the Open Quest Institute, which for over 25 years provided counseling services and social programs to over 10,000 clients in the Los Angeles area. During this time he developed a 24-hour national hotline addressing LGBTQ issues and chemical dependency as well as several hospital programs throughout Southern California.

He retired as a therapist in the early 2000’s and worked as a computer set-up/repair specialist.

Don loved sailing, reading novels about WWII and books on marketing, and was a major gadget-a-holic. His favorite color is taxi cab yellow.

As a couple, Don and Chuck were a fixture of the LA art scene.

Don will be missed.

We are having a Celebration of Don's life on what would have been his 81st birthday, April 15.

The celebration will be held at the loft of Jane Chafin and Chaz Alexander, on April 15, from 2-5pm. The loft is at The Paseo Pasadena mall and parking is available at three parking garages (see map in photos above), which can be entered from Colorado Blvd., Green St. and Marengo Ave.
