Campaign Story
Life with leukemia looks like this... Blood works, lots of blood works + expensive oral chemo.
It all started when my mom felt a mass on lower left side of her abdomen. When she told us about this we immediately brought her to St. LUKES GLOBAL CITY for check up. She was then advised to have a CT scan on her abdomen. After which they found that her spleen was enlarge and was advised to undergo surgery to remove the mass.
In preparation for the surgery, my mom took a complete blood count and 2d echo. While the cardiologist is reading the result of her 2d echo, her hematologist called and advise my mom to return right away for the reading of her blood test and advise the doctor to cancel the schedule for surgery.
Her hematologist told her that there is something abnormal with her WBC COUNT.. THAT SHE HAS EXTREMELY HIGH WBC COUNT (750,000) and was initially diagnose with CML.
That day, when I fetched my mom at the hospital, she immediately told me about this devastating news and requested me to go back and talk to her hema and clarify her condition because she told me that maybe she heard a wrong diagnosis. I was in shocked seeing my mom crying and in denial stage. I knew she was in denial because she definitely understood what the doctor says since she was once worked in medical industry. Then we went back to the hematologist and the doctor talked to me about her condition. It was a shared diagnosis, my mom was the one that carries the disease but I'm impacted just as much. Differently for sure but just as much.
After her bone marrow, biopsy and series of blood test/works last Jan 2018, my mom was immediately given her treatment protocol which cost 194,000 PER Month.
It was a little over a year since my mom is taking her oral chemo. For the past year, we manage to support her medical needs with the help we got from private/ govt agencies and with our savings. HOWEVER NOW, we are seeking for your help to support her medical funds since our savings has been exhausted and there is a crisis/delay from government support agency (PCSO) and they cannot guarantee specific date of resume of GL granting.
We hope you could extend your support to sustain her life long medication.
Any amount will help and be very much appreciated. Thank you so much. 💜
