My name is Rachel, am from Kenya. I believe in empowering people,... 'dont give fish but show someone how to catch the fish'..... Its the only way to encourage a sustainable way to make a living. This is a group of young people who started a mushroom project group that involves both women and young youths. They are mushroom farmers.
In Kenya we only produce 476tons out of the 1200tons needed for local consumption. This shows there is great market potential for growth. This gives room to employ more people and greatly improve their standards of living where most of the youth will have changed from life of crime since now they are busy and earn money.
The donations will enable them to buy more materials, wheat straw, machine for cutting, buy drums, connect gas for pasteurization process, rent out a bigger area to farm etc.
Their vision is to be able to produce more varieties of mushrooms like oyster, button, reshi, shiitake, portobello etc, and will supply to hotels, super markets, grocery stores, exporting too.
Let's help improve the lives of our future generation.
Thank you for the time in reading this. I appreciate it.
