This project will involve a group of poor single mothers in Kedah, Malaysia. In this project, the single mothers will be trained to raise chickens from scratch and sustain their own coop until the chickens are ready to be sold. So far we have managed to find a market for the chickens, however, we do not have the fund to start off the project. For every single mother, we have estimated the cost of buying a medium size coop, 20 chickens and chicken feedstock for a year. They will also be provided hands-on training which will include bookkeeping.
So far we managed to find the supplier for the coop and the chicks willing to provide the needed items and chicks for a very discounted price. We are also in negotiation with the chicken feed factory to provide us with chicken feed at a subsidized price. Once we have reached an agreement with the feed supplier, the project is ready to take off. The only thing missing is the fund for the project thus the sooner we manage to collect the fund the faster we can start the project.
Financial support for this project will impact the lives of many single mothers, who are currently relying on a farming job, part-time job as a petrol pump attendant, and various other menial jobs that are either underpaid or unreliable. Support for this project will enable these women to have a stable income and in the long run, with enough monitoring and training might be the main source of economic stability for these families. The impact for these women will end up securing the financial well being of the whole families especially the younger children.
I deeply appreciate and are very grateful for any contribution as what seems like a small project might become a turning point in the lives of these women. Thank you very much for your time.
