Empower our underprivildged friends in need.

Dear friends from around the world,

I am very excited!!!

Why?

I am going to India later this year and I am going to work towards a cause that I deeply care about – Giving back to balance the universe. All my close friends have been really patient with me over the last few months as I have been ranting about how incomplete I feel because I do not think that I am doing enough. I also feel that it just takes that one step and then nothing can stop you when there is a strong will to do something. You have to start somewhere and it has to be NOW!

THE NEWS IS THAT I AM GOING TO VOLUNTEER IN INDIA AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!! YIPPEE!

How?

I am in talks with a couple of NGOs (Non-Government Organizations) in New Delhi, India for the past few weeks and some of them have been very kind to have responded to my desperate emails. I will shortlist an organization with the maximum outreach and engage with them for volunteering initiaitives as well as to make material contributions for the needy. Some top contenders are Goonj and Donate an Hour. I also am in talks with ‘Days for Girls’ in USA to get some female hygiene supplies that I can take back with me to donate.

I intend to contribute in the following ways to begin with:

1. Feminine hygiene – Provide reusable and sustainable sanitary supplies to underprivileged women.
2. Educational supplies
3. Clothing and bedding
   1. Donate clothes and bedding
   1. Donate sarees – GOONJ has a beautiful campaign called ‘Your saree for dignity’ and I am planning to give them some of my really good, almost unused sarees that the rural women can use.
4. Food and medical supplies

I was going to do this by myself and then thought that if I could garner more support, TOGETHER we could reach more people and make a bigger impact.

No pressure, but if you have a few dollars to spare, you are very welcome to join in and give back!

Finally, as Mother Teresa said – Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great LOVE. I am a die hard romantic and I completely agree with one of my absolute favorite people in this entire world!
