Campaign Story
I am raising money to help fund my nursing elective placement to Pokhara, Nepal in January 2019, for 4 weeks. Here I will be working in a local hospital for 3 weeks, treating the Nepalese community. The other week is being spent doing mountain healthcare, which consists of me staying with a Nepalese family in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains and treating the community with the bare minimum. This will be a life changing experience as I will encounter the Nepalese healthcare system, which differs entirely from our own. Unlike our NHS were everything is provided, in Nepal the patients themselves bring their own equipment and supplies, as healthcare is very expensive for them. Due to poor sanitation, high health care costs and poor education, many of the population suffer from malnutrition and diseases that can be easily prevented. This is a once in a life time trip which will be a major culture shock, but an experience that I am thoroughly excited for.
Therefore I am doing a sponsored walk up Mount Snowdon on the 9th December to help raise funds. Any donations will be very much appreciated to help make this trip a memorable one. Thank you!
