Campaign Story
I am a volunteer in the Philippines. One of my dearest neighbors has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She would be embarrassed if she knew I was starting a crowd funding campaign for her. It will our little secret. The money you donate will be given to Emma anonymously through our town priest. Here, when you want to help someone monetarily without recognition, it is know as being an "angel". I need you to be Emma's angel.
As you know, breast cancer is scary enough by itself. Now, combine that fear with the dismay of how to afford treatment. Here in the Philippines, their version of health "insurance" for the aged population is a 20% discount on services. The remainder has to be paid in cash when treatment is rendered. Cash, or they will not allow you leave the hospital unless someone can pay. Therefor, unless you have the required funds, you do not even begin treatment.
Treatment for Emma's breast cancer (including chemo, surgery, and follow up) is 145,000 Philippine pesos. That's only $3,079 USD. A bargain in most cases, but to those living here, it is astronomical.
A photo of Emma is attached to this campaign. This was taken in the house of a friend of hers, the day before her diagnosis.
Any amount you can donate will be tremendously appreciated. Emma is a dear, sweet person who would give the shirt off her back for anyone. Now, she needs your help.
