Emil needs surgery, please help!

Emil, an 11-month-old French Bulldog puppy, has a prolapsed urethra. This painful and inflamed condition does occur more often in bulldogs than in other breeds and is observed as a red, pea-size tissue protruding out from the tip of the dog's penis. This exposed protrusion is red and swollen and can easily bleed, sometimes in a dramatic, unstoppable, scary fashion. Needless to say, we feel awful for the little man and we are desperate to get him the help he needs!

We consulted Dr Cheung at Non-Profit Making Veterinary Services Society (NPV) who assured us that the condition is fixable with a small surgery, which put our minds at ease, but the quotation is HKD 12,000, which doesn't include follow-up meds or hospitalisation (total cost will be around 15,000) which is more money than our organisation can afford.

We work tirelessly each and every day to help dogs in need and to provide a safe and happy home for dogs who have nowhere else to go. While we rehome and rehabilitate many bulldogs, Emil is the first case we have encountered of a prolapsed urethra, and we hope it's the only one - it must be so painful for him! After the surgery, he will make a full recovery so of course we are dedicated to doing what we can to ensure she gets the treatment he needs to live a happy and healthy life.
