There is an armed conflict going on in the East of Ukraine since March 2014, in which 11,000 people were killed and 25,000 wounded. One million Ukrainians have fled abroad. 1,5 million have been internally displaced. Ukraine has the lowest personal income and GDP per capita in Europe, and it suffers from a very high poverty rate. 60 percent of the population is unemployed, and the average income is less than US$100 per month

Every day millions of Ukrainians have to make impossible choices whether they eat, have medicine or their children go to school.

The armed conflict in eastern Ukraine continues to affect some 5.2 million people, 3.5 million of which have acute humanitarian needs. 30 percent of them are children. The people of Ukraine are now facing their sixth winter of conflict. Their resources have long reached a breaking point. US$52 million urgently needed to address the most acute and time-critical humanitarian needs to survive through the winter.
