Campaign Story
The phenomenon of poverty in the occupied lands is characterized by a very specificity that stems from the specificity of our cause, and the events and tragedies that our people have been subjected to over a century, especially uprooting, displacement, wars, occupation, and deprivation of national rights, this has led to the permanent impoverishment of large groups of our people, In essence, poverty is the result of the interaction of a set of structural factors (political, economic and social). From this point of view, and before going into the study of the phenomenon of poverty in the Strip, it is necessary to refer to the historical context of this phenomenon in our society.
The people in the occupied lands were subjected to a process of forced displacement and uprooting in 1948, which led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people to the countries of neighboring countries and in various parts of the earth, the establishment of the occupation state on our historical land, a large number of people who were displaced from their cities and villages under the military war machine sought refuge in the Strip and the West Bank, and later became refugees living in camps, losing all their possessions and lands that constitute their livelihood, hence the series of impoverishment and deprivation began. Later, in 1967, the occupation forces completed the occupation of the Strip and the West Bank, and this war was also accompanied by more immigration. This was followed by many occupation measures, including the annexation of Arab Jerusalem, the confiscation of land, the construction of settlements, the control of water, and the demolition of homes, in addition, the occupation authorities imposed a set of legislation and military orders that enabled them to control the natural resources and to control the productive sectors, It was also able to attach the economy to the occupation economy turning the West Bank and the Strip into a market for occupation products and a source of cheap labor. Moreover, it has imposed a burdensome tax system that is not commensurate with the income levels of our people.
At the present time, the rates of poverty and unemployment in the Strip reach unprecedented levels, with poverty rates exceeding 60% and unemployment rates 45%, which made obtaining the basic necessities of life a major challenge for the majority of families.
Our organization (Rahma Charity) is considered one of the most important and oldest organizations working in the relief field in the Strip (since 1993), and we seek to provide relief services to the poorest, weakest, and marginalized groups of our people, we hope that you will contribute to the relief of these families by supporting Our efforts to reach these groups and help them by donating to this campaign.Organizer
