Dear friends,

Do you remember the appalling carnage caused by Hurricane Irma?

Our disaster response volunteers were among the first outside help to arrive in the British Virgin Islands in the immediate aftermath of the 2017 storm and witnessed the destroyed homes and devastated livelihoods first-hand.

What they also saw was a resilient community determined to get back on its feet and to rebuild the paradise it had lost.

Now our volunteers are ready to return to Virgin Gorda to install an emergency digital radio system and an FM broadcast capability as a communications lifeline for the islanders in the event of future hurricanes.

With generous backing, we've been able to fund the equipment and some of the flights needed. Now we need to find the money for shipping the equipment, getting the rest of the team there and installation costs.

This hurricane season, can you help us to help the islanders as they continue to recover from Hurricane Irma?

Thank-you.

  • I have the privilege of working with the best people in the world. Serve On volunteers are there for people at home and abroad. Having deployed to Hurricane Irma and seen it first hand, met the amazing people who live in the BVI I want to support them with this valuable project. When we were there trying to pass information about casualties, food water requirements and medical stores needs. It would have been easy if we had had this system. Best wishes to all SO volunteers and the people of BVI (VG)
